Lynden GareFounder, Technical Director

Born and bred in Melbourne, Victoria, Lynden is first and foremost a lighting director & programmer with over 15 years of experience in television and music. Lynden cut his teeth in the Australian music touring scene with the likes of Cut Copy and Kimbra, before moving on to four years of international touring as Production Manager for Flume.

Notable projects include lighting and production management for headline performances at Coachella and Red Rocks, moving light console programmer for Melbourne’s Carols By Candlelight broadcast for the last 17 consecutive years, and programming the AAMI Park Exterior installation.

As Director and Founder of Colourblind, Lynden is passionate about devising scalable and reliable touring systems that get the job done. Lynden brings a suite of creative capabilities and experience to projects across music, sport, television, and special events.

Matt has spent the better part of 20 years working in lighting and show design.

Having taken an interest in production design during high school, Matt went on to work as Lighting Designer at the award-winning ‘Family’ Nightclub in Brisbane and later became Production Manager for the entire Katarzyna Group.

More recently, Matt has honed his craft as lighting designer for Flight Facilities and RÜFÜS DU SOL, developing a new concept and show for each album cycle. Touring has brought Matt to all corners of the globe, with notable headline slots at Coachella, Red Rocks, Alexandra Palace, and iconic live performances in collaboration with both the Melbourne and Sydney Symphony Orchestras.

Claire’s background primarily lies within the TV and Film Industries. Graduating with a Diploma in Live Production and Technical Services at Box Hill Tafe in Melbourne, Claire spent a decade working at Channel Nine in their Special Events, Live Outside Broadcast, and Studio Production departments.

Claire officially joined the team as General Manager in 2016 and has gone on to represent Colourblind as Production Manager on events such as the 2017 – 2018 Wine Machine Festival National Tour and Peking Duk’s 2019 ‘Biggest Tour Ever… So Far’, hitting 16 dates in every corner of Australia. Aside from her massive touring feats across Australia, Claire has had the opportunity to be a part of international productions such as the 2016 Parisian Casino Opening in Macau, as Kinesys Operator, and Technical Director for the Lumieres in Hong Kong.

Daniel Black, BFA.
Lighting Director

Based in Brisbane, Dan has over 15 years of experience working on contemporary theatre and music productions. After graduating from Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Technical Production, Dan has gone on to work at a number of venues, including the renowned Brisbane Powerhouse. He has also toured theatre and circus shows throughout Australia and Europe.

Working with Colourblind, Dan has designed, operated and toured productions with SAFIA, The Kite String Tangle, and Set Mo. When not on tour, you can find him teaching lighting to the next generation at Queensland University of Technology.

Hamish Lee
Lighting Director

Hamish joined Colourblind as an intern in early 2019, while still completing a Diploma of Event Management at Swinburne University.

Since graduating and becoming a full time member of the team, Hamish has worked with G-Flip as their touring Lighting Designer, Assistant Lighting Chief on 2019 Listen Out tour, as well as a number of theatrical and club residencies.

Aidan Tothill
Lighting Director

Aidan joined Colourblind in early 2019, and has since become an integral member of the team. Holding a Diploma Of Live Production and Events from Adelaide College of Arts and with a background as a Project Manager at Novatech Creative Event Technologies, Aidan brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in lighting and video production technologies.

Since joining Colourblind, Aidan has assisted in the production of lighting systems for Hermitude, Peking Duk, Running Touch, and Cosmos Midnight.
